It was great to talk with Rachel from Year 1 today about how they plan to introduce Genius Hour with their students. I am sure that the inherent curiosity of 6 and 7 year olds will lead to some amazing wondering and ideas.
In Year 4 this week we have been exploring exactly what Genius Hour is. We watched some introductory YouTube clips, discussed our passions and what we do when we're bored. We learnt that although Genius Hour gives us lots of choice, there are some rules and parameters. Students then worked in a small group and wrote some "wonderings" on our Wonder Wall. Students are very excited and have returned to school with many questions and ideas.

Genius Hour!
Genius Hour! This is going to be such an amazing opportunity for both students and staff. I can see so many opportunities for students to really 'live' the Habits of Mind. A Wonder Wall is going to be a prominent and valued part of our learning space, which we plan on tweeting regularly to encourage discussions at home. Fun times ahead!
